Summit Gift Shop and Summit Learning Center

Summit Gift ShopCome see us this spring!

The Gift Shop opens May 1st 11am until 4 pm Everyday until September 30th.

The Learning Center is open Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Weekend.

The Summit Gift Shop will be open May 1st through the end of September.  The view with a brew is on! Its our Daily Constitution, roast by Local Goods for samples and for sale.  You’ll find we have unique park related gifts which are hard to find anywhere but in our Summit Shop.  We also have the practical; forgot your fleece, your hat or need a journal for the summertime memories? We have it.  All proceeds benefit the state park.

The Summit Learning Center will be open Memorial Day weekend.  In our first year, we were so excited to share information about our Rough Skinned Newts.  Our newt exhibit is undergoing some improvements this winter, so everyone can take a peek.  We expect the bright orange bellied newts to begin migrating late spring.  You will want to plan some time to take a guided newt walk to Summit Lake and learn more about these great little amphibians.  Please check our Facebook page for Newt Walk schedule.

We also have a great timeline so you can learn more about the KVOS history at the summit along side diversity of creatures and trees. The Learning Center is a project we see evolving with time and money. We hope you’ll support Friends of Moran as we coordinate monthly lectures, outdoor education and community programs.

We hope you’ll come check it out and leave learning something new.

Want to Volunteer at the Summit? We staff the Shop and Center seven days a week throughout the summer.   If you have a few days and love to meet people from around the world and your back yard then ask us about volunteering. Training and support are provided.
You’ll feel great about volunteering with Friends. Staffed everyday by volunteers the gift shop and the nature center are a great funding mechanism for the park projects, especially during these intense budget cuts.
Choose days that fit your schedule and volunteer as many as you like. No experience is necessary.  We’ll show you how to use a simple register.  Other than that you fluff the shop and talk to visitors.  We typically share information about local places to dine; to rent kayaks or provide suggestions for great hikes-all the information  is at your fingertips.
There are numerous other volunteer opportunities, ask us where you can fit in.
