With Friends of Moran, volunteers are united by a shared mission, to support our state park and enhance the visitors experience.
We have volunteer opportunities in the Gift Shop and Learning Center as well as in the park on the trails.
Friends of Moran operate the gift shop and learning center each season from May through September with the goals of educational outreach, providing assistance to visitors and generating funding for park projects. All funds from the gift shop go directly to Moran State Park projects. There’s no experience necessary to volunteer in the gift shop or learning center. We’ll provide all the training.
Come find out what we are working on this year and where you can get involved.
Volunteer efforts are also required for ongoing park projects such as the annual tower maintenance, spring clean up, educational programs and events such as the annual Fishing Derby and Steve Braun Triathlon.
Maybe you can fit in some time on the second Sunday of each month. We meet at the Park Office at 10 am on the second Sunday of each month. Then we head out to a specific project supervised by one of the state park rangers. There are alot of outdoor type projects, trails and maintenance that our rangers can not complete just before summer, during the season and afterwards. Watch our Facebook page and local media for project specifics.
Watch for our flyer’s and announcements for the Annual Spring Clean Up the second weekend in April. Its a morning of fun, new friendships and park clean up. Lunch is provided along with hot/cold drinks, some treats and a lecture.
There are trail and camp projects that come up on short notice or are assigned as we find a group of volunteers. You can check back here for updated information or email us if you have a group coming to visit and looking for a productive way to spend time in our park.
